From Social Justice to Social Impact

On Friday, November 18, 2022, we will commemorate the opening of The Birmingham Civil Rights Institute in Birmingham, Alabama with an official 30th anniversary celebration. Our 21st century vision to inspire, educate and advocate for social justice leadership skills is unwavering. We are still working to raise the consciousness of America to advance civil and human rights for current and future generations through the lens of the Civil Rights movement. This fall, we will recognize the 2022 The Rev. Fred L. Shuttlesworth Human Rights Award, The Courageous Communicator Award, and The Legacy of Freedom Award. Our celebratory experience will also feature live performances, greetings from special guest, and a presentation spotlighting our three decades of archival stewardship.
