The Birmingham Civil Rights Institute (BCRI) makes an exciting back-drop to host your next event.  One of Birmingham’s unique treasures, BCRI is conveniently located in the Historic Civil Rights District of Birmingham, Alabama.  Its surroundings include Kelly Ingram Park and the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church.  

Planning your event at BCRI is an excellent way to introduce your guests to the wonderful galleries and exciting programs offered at BCRI. We encourage you to include time during your event for guests to view current exhibitions. Special tours or experiences in the galleries can be arranged for additional fees.

Abraham Woods Community Meeting Room


Seating up to 54, this space can be used for community meetings, seminars, professional organization dinners, corporate cocktail events and receptions. Standing room is 80. This room is wheelchair accessible.


Half Day (4 hours): $650*

Full Day (9-5): $800*

Evening (5-8): $800*

*Plus $50 an hour (after 5pm) for maintenance and security.







Lecture Room

The Lecture Room’s classroom layout is perfect for training and workshops.  The space accommodates up to 24 people seated.  The David J. Vann Gallery, with special exhibitions throughout the year, is in the adjacent space.

The Rotunda is the dramatic domed, circular area in BCRI’s main entrance.  The open, airy space is the perfect setting for large receptions (standing) for up to 300 guests.  The Rotunda can be rented ONLY during the evening and is adjacent to the Woolfolk Gallery.

Woolfolk Gallery

The Odessa Woolfolk Gallery, which has special exhibitions rotating throughout the year, can be rented ONLY during the evening and upon availability.  The Gallery can provide a seated dinner event for up to 100 people.

  • Gift Shop can open for special events held after regular operating hours by request Advance notice is required. $50.00 per hour/2 hour minimum.
  • For after 5pm and before opening events, additional security is required at an additional $100.00 per hour charge will be assessed.
  • A deposit of half the rental fee is required in order to reserve a space. The event WILL NOT be confirmed until this deposit is received.
  • The remaining rental fee must be paid in full two weeks before the scheduled event.
  • If an event is canceled, your payment will be refunded less a $25.00 administrative fee.
  • BCRI is a non-smoking facility for all events.
