Children's Activities

The Institute's Message...

The Institute's Message of reconciliation and mutual understanding will help weave the fabric of our community's future. We hope to stand as a testament of things past and as a monument to things to come. Our work with the children serves as our foundation and as the sustaining factor of our success.

Heritage Alive!                                                                        Regular story hours for children Grades K-3, plus a "Community of Readers" Family Story Night and other reading-focused activities for children and families.

Juneteenth
Birmingham's annual celebration, a weekend of cultural activities sponsored by the BCRI, is one of the largest in the nation. There are a host of activities for all ages.

Birmingham Pledge Teen Conference                                          Each September, teenagers from throughout the Birmingham metropolitan area come together for a full day at the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute to reflect with one another on the purpose and meaning of the "Birmingham Pledge" in their lives.
