Join us in celebration of Women's History Month!  Americans first began celebrating "Women's History Week" within Sonoma County, California in 1978. The week including March 8-- International Women's Day-- was selected.  By 1981, a national Women's History Week was established from a joint Congressional resolution cosponsored by Senator Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) and Representative Barbara Mikulski (D-Maryland.). Six years later, Congress expanded the celebration to encompass the entire month of March.  BCRI has proudly celebrated Women's History Month with special programs, forums and conferences for the last thirteen years.

March 13 @ 6:00pm -- The Women Gather: An Evening of Poetry and Music

March 20 @ 6:00pm -- Women's History Month Program focusing on the struggles faced by women in mass movements for change. Presentations by scholars Tara White and Dr. Michael Wilson.  For more information, call (205) 328-9696, ext. 246.
