Juneteenth Culture Fest: June 2, 2012

Music, food, crazy contests and tons of fun. That's BCRI's Annual Juneteenth Culture Fest in Kelly Ingram Park on Saturday, June 2, 2012 from 11 am -8 pm.

Dating back to June 19, 1865, Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States.  BCRI's celebration not only focuses on African American freedom, but also celebrates liberty and justice for all cultures with live music, food vendors, contests and free admission to BCRI's permanent exhibitions.  The celebration culminates on Sunday, June 3rd with a worship service at the historic Sixteenth Street Baptist Church, also located in the Civil Rights District.
