The Richard Arrington, Jr. Resource Gallery is named for Dr. Richard Arrington, Jr., Birmingham's first African American mayor, who served from 1979 until his retirement in 1999. Sixteen of the twenty-nine computers have user friendly touch screen monitors, and each has individual headphones, allowing visitors to access a variety of audio sources. The Gallery offers interactive multimedia experiences to visitors who are encouraged to use their senses of sight, hearing, and touch to interact with the information available.
